For National Coffee Day, Tim Hortons brought back four vintage take-out cup designs for a limited time. We wanted to know which one people would choose if all four were sitting on the counter, so we asked 828 Field Agents to rank the cups from their favourite to least favourite.
Cup D took the top spot, earning 40% of first-place picks. Cup A followed at 30%, Cup B received 21%, and Cup C came in at 9%.
It’s a fun reminder that packaging can become part of the experience. A familiar cup can bring back a memory, catch someone’s eye in line, or give them a reason to share a photo. Limited-time designs also give customers something new to notice in a product they may buy every day.
We asked one more question: how do retro or vintage offerings from brands, such as these cups, affect people’s overall perception of the brand? Nearly half of agents (49%) said they have a positive impact: 32% said somewhat positivelyand 17% said very positively. Another 49% said retro offerings have no impact, while 2% said they affect their perception somewhat negatively.
